Update on ongoing closure and service interruption–PLEASE READ

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ
As we continue to work through these challenging times, we want to keep everyone up to date on the choices we are making to support efforts around managing the spread of COVID-19.

We, at Program Read, take the health and well being of our staff, learners and our community very seriously. In this spirit, we will continue to cooperate with the government, school boards, and health officials to make informed choices based on what is known.

As a result, we will remain closed to the public beyond the original date of April 6th. We will make every effort to keep you informed of our status and look forward to getting back to supporting our learners, current and new, in reaching goals.

Annual General Meeting 2018

Details
Program Read’s 2018 Annual General Meeting will feature guest speaker Sarah McComb. This is a chance to come out and meet the board members, volunteer tutors, and staff who work together to provide help with reading, writing, math and computers to adult learners in Sault Ste. Marie. All are welcome!

In the spotlight: Sarah McComb
Sarah is a writer from Sault Ste. Marie who recently had a short story included in a new anthology of non-fiction short stories about life in Northern Ontario.

In an article dated Feb 20, 2018, James Hopkin writes: “McComb says that her contribution to the anthology is ‘firmly rooted in Sault Ste. Marie.’ Her grandfather, along with a business partner, started up the New Toronto Hotel in the city’s west end in the 1930s. The establishment was located on the corner of James Street and Cathcart, next to Spadoni’s Furniture.”
